GMC-Series High-Capacity Test Power Supply

Sifang is committed to the application of power electronic technologies in power systems. The large-capacity grid-connected test power supply products developed by Sifang are at the leading level within the industry in terms of single-unit capacity, voltage rating, and overall technical performance. Sifang has delivered multiple sets of high-voltage, large-capacity grid-connected test power supplies to key customers, accumulating extensive engineering application experience. These products feature compact size, ease of transportation, high automation level, high output accuracy, four-quadrant operation capability, strong environmental adaptability, and excellent corrosion resistance.

Sifang’s large-capacity test power supplies are developed based on advanced Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) technology and are capable of controllably simulating a wide range of abnormal grid operating conditions that may occur in real power system operation. These include voltage deviation tolerance, frequency deviation tolerance, three-phase voltage unbalance tolerance, flicker tolerance, harmonic voltage tolerance, low- and high-voltage ride-through (LVRT/HVRT), and voltage cascading fault conditions. This enables large-capacity grid-connected power electronic equipment under test to operate in an environment as close as possible to real grid conditions, thereby allowing more accurate evaluation of equipment performance and grid-connection stability.

The test power supply system can be widely applied to pre-grid-connection performance testing of wind power systems, photovoltaic power generation systems, energy storage systems, SVGs, and other power-electronic-based equipment.

The standard testing capacity of Sifang’s large-capacity grid-connected test power supply products is 10 MVA, which can be expanded to 30 MVA through multi-unit parallel operation (with proven engineering applications), or even higher capacities through customized development according to user requirements. The supported voltage levels include 10 kV, 35 kV, and 66 kV. In terms of both functional performance and testing capacity, Sifang’s large-capacity grid-connected test power supply products remain at the forefront of the industry.

1) High-Precision Control

  • Ultra-Fast Response Capability: a highly integrated and compact control and protection system with a unified design of station control and valve control, achieving an end-to-end latency of < 100 μs.

  • Accurate Modulation: multi-dimensional module balancing combined with dynamic voltage modulation technology enables precise modulation of voltage flicker, voltage fluctuations, and harmonic voltages.

  • Accurate Measurement: based on Sifang’s proprietary sub-synchronous and super-synchronous oscillation analysis technology, the system can accurately measure the wideband impedance of the device under test, effectively eliminating the risk of wideband oscillations in generating units.

  • High-Fidelity Simulation: integrated capability for characteristic simulation of renewable-energy VSC-HVDC export systems and renewable energy clusters, enabling accurate emulation of grid characteristics of wind turbines, energy storage systems, photovoltaic converters, and other equipment under various AC fault conditions.

2) Strong Environmental Adaptability

  • Excellent Vibration Resistance: system-wide vibration mitigation measures, including customized spring damping and flexible connections, suitable for applications requiring frequent transportation or relocation.

  • High Sealing Performance: air-cooled heat dissipation combined with adjustable vent locking functions ensures long-term storage without condensation and prevents component damage.

  • Enhanced Protection Treatment: structural materials are treated for salt spray resistance and acid corrosion resistance, and electrical components are reinforced with protective coatings, fully meeting the requirements for coastal and harsh environmental applications.

3) Rich Expansion Capabilities

  • Four-Quadrant Operation: supports four-quadrant operation and three single-phase independent control. The test power supply can generate output waveforms through programmable configuration according to testing requirements.

  • “Building-Block” Modular Architecture: modular structural design with gigabit-network-based synchronous control, supporting multi-unit parallel operation and capacity expansion.
