GMC Series Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC)

In distribution networks where AC power consumption is predominant, DC distribution systems and AC distribution systems primarily rely on VSC-based medium-voltage converters to perform AC/DC conversion and power control, thereby enabling flexible interconnection between AC and DC networks.

The Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) offers advantages such as ease of achieving a large number of voltage levels, excellent harmonic performance, and modular scalability. It has become the preferred voltage-source converter topology in flexible DC transmission systems.

In DC distribution networks, the AC/DC hub converter—responsible for linking the AC and DC medium-voltage grids—must be capable of flexible power regulation, DC bus voltage control, and rapid, controllable response to AC and DC faults. The MMC converter is likewise the optimal solution for these requirements.

Features
  • Modular architecture with a high number of voltage levels and excellent harmonic performance
